Product details

In the Ming Dynasty, a rare dual-faced Phurba, known as the Wrathful Vajrakila Phurba, emerged in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The Phurba, or Vajrakila, is one of the most common principal deities used for dispelling obstacles. Prior to achieving mastery in the practice of the Wrathful Vajrakila, Padmasambhava first practiced with the Phurba to purify obstacles, eventually attaining various accomplishments through other practices. The Phurba is renowned for its ability to dispel obstacles and is considered an emanation of all Buddhas, capable of eliminating all demonic hindrances.
This particular Phurba features dual wrathful deity images, a rare and unique configuration. The two wrathful deities are arranged vertically, with vivid facial expressions seldom seen. At the apex of the Phurba are five-pronged vajra scepters, beneath which reside the two wrathful deities. Their countenances are robust, with powerful musculature, and their wide-open eyes and furrowed brows seem to glare angrily at all obstructive forces. Their slightly swollen cheeks, snarling lips, and exposed fangs depict a terrifying visage, evoking a sense of dread. The handle is adorned with symmetrical 'Han-style convex knots', ingeniously creating a sense of spatial depth and enhancing the visual hierarchy of the central holding area. Towards the lower end, the mouth of a Makara beast is depicted, expelling three-edged blades symbolizing the severance of the three poisons: greed, hatred, and delusion.
The overall design boasts smooth lines and harmonious proportions. Despite a minor chip on one of the blades, the Phurba maintains its top-tier quality and overall integrity, which is understandable given its lineage tracing back to the Ming Dynasty. This Phurba was previously owned by a Tibetan brother and has been passed down through generations. According to his grandfather, it was originally a transmission from a yogi in the Garze region, making it an exceptionally rare and auspicious artifact. It stands as an optimal choice for both offering and practical meditation practices.
